Boasting three locations around the capital, this small roastery prides itself, unsurprisingly, on its coffee, which is strong, creamy, and rippled with professional latte art. Reykjavik Roasters’ main objective is for their customers to enjoy all the comfort and warmth that comes with a cup of coffee – not just to enjoy the taste of the coffee itself. As you sit in the steamy window of their Kárastígur cafe, frostbitten hands wrapped around one of their stylishly simplistic mugs, you really are filled with an inevitable sense of comfort.
In typical Nordic fashion, this cafe is simple yet homely, with Scandi style seeping into each detail. Glittering fairy lights frame the windows, dangling green plants hanging from any spare shelf or surface. The light wood furniture is mismatching, nestled into windows and corners for a more intimate coffee break. Wander up to the counter and browse their range of traditional pastries and cakes to accompany your drink. Reykjavík Roasters opens at 8am every day; this means that, during the winter months, you can watch the sky gently brighten above the colourful, chocolate-box houses in the quiet street.

With such a unique, attentive brewing process, it is little wonder that the coffee here is often professed to be among the city’s best. All the staff at Reykjavík Roasters are fully trained in and understanding of this process, allowing them to impart this wisdom onto any curious clients.
