The stuff of Instagram-feed dreams, Fontana Café is a sophisticated café and bakery located at the heart of Turku. Housed within one of the city’s typical Renaissance-style buildings, the smooth marble surfaces and light wooden detailing of this café makes the perfect location for a quick mid-week coffee or a hearty Sunday brunch. Cactus plants are strewn along the window ledges: a welcome contrast to the sleek Scandinavian backdrop of Turku’s wide, elegant streets.
Alongside its picture-perfect bakery counter, with rows of colourful cakes and – of course – Finnish cinnamon buns, Fontana Café also offer brunch and lunch menus. With beloved classics, such as avocado toast, listed alongside innovative dishes like their tofu poke bowl, Fontana’s menu is easily tailored to all tastes. Their extensive wine list is matched by an equally-lengthy tea list, combined to create the perfect bottomless brunch.
Fontana Café’s atmosphere manages to pair laid-back tranquility and Scandi sophistication, with fluffy white blankets draped across geometrically-designed chairs. On Sundays between 12 and 3, Fontana is bustling with locals, all enjoying the prosecco which is served with their mouth-watering brunch.
