With the rugged summit of the mountains in the background and the glistening Mediterranean Sea stretched out before it, there’s no wonder the town of Benalmádena, Spain, is a popular holiday destination.

Nestled on the sunny coast of southern Spain, in the Andalusian region, it’s one of many brilliant places to visit in the Costa Del Sol. The centre of Benelmádena is called Arroyo De La Miel and it’s here that you’ll find a bevvy of bars, shops, and restaurants. The traditional white-fronted buildings are home to some delicious places to sample the local cuisine. In the centre is also where you can release your inner child (or entertain your actual children) at the highly-acclaimed Tivoli World. For 40 years, thrill-seekers have enjoyed the many rides rides on offer at the theme park, along with the spectacular shows that play well into the night.

To continue with thrill and adventure, right next to Tivoli World is the teleferico, or cable car, which will take you to the summit of Mount Calamorro. From atop the mountain, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and Benalmádena, Spain, down below. Hop on a bike or set out on foot for some mountain exploring, or catch one of the exciting horse and bird shows available.

Follow the sounds of the crashing waves to one of three sandy beaches on offer in Benalmádena, Spain: Playa de Bil Bil, Playa del Arroyo De La Miel and Playa de Santa Ana. Pull up a chair at the beachside Maracas Bar on Playa de Bil Bil for some sumptuous paella and a delicious tequila sunrise. Continue walking by the beach, along Paseo Maritimo, and you will reach the thriving marina in the area known as Benalmádena Costa. Bobbing on the water are hundreds of white sparkling boats in a variety of shapes and sizes – and price tags! It is here that you will also find attractions such as the Sea Life aquarium and Selwo Marina – the latter being a theme park with dolphins, penguins and seals.

Set back from the sounds of the sea, you can lose yourself amongst a luscious paradise of green. Parque de La Paloma is home to a fantastic collection of cacti, palms, and other plants and flowers. Peruse its winding paths, ice cream in hand, and walk towards the tranquil lake at the southern end of the park.
